VOTE ANAYO ONUKWUGHA AS ASSISTANT SECRETARY, NUJ, RIVERS STATE

Dear colleague,

My name is Anayo Onukwugha. I am the Rivers State Correspondent of LEADERSHIP NEWSPAPERS GROUP and Internal Auditor of Federated Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state.

By the grace of God Almighty, I am the only aspirant from the Federated Correspondents Chapel. A chapel that has not produced any elected official of the Rivers State Council of the NUJ since 1999.

Why I want to be the next Assistant Secretary of NUJ in Rivers State

I strongly believe that my election as Assistant Secretary of the Rivers State Council of the NUJ will bring several changes in the running of the secretariat of our great union in the state.

With the permission of the State Secretary, who is the head of the secretariat, I will introduce the use of electronic means, i.e. e-mail, and bulk SMS as well as social media, face book in the dissemination of minutes of congress meetings and circulars for meetings to members and chapels in the state.

By this, members of the union would stop complaining about discrimination in the dissemination of information among members because, on several occasion, not few journalists in the state have stayed away from meeting of the union based on the fact that they were not informed about date of meetings.

Therefore, I appeal to you to give me you vote to emerge as the next Assistant Secretary of the NUJ in Rivers State as we gather on Thursday, April 19, 2011 to elect new officials that will run the affairs of our great union for the next three years.

I really count on your vote and support and strongly believe that we will emerge victorious.
